Fear often arrives with a clipboard, already prepared to manage my life.

It has notes about what could go wrong, reminders of what happened before, and strong opinions about how closely I should monitor everyone I love. It starts assigning tasks before I have decided it belongs in the room.

This lesson reverses the arrangement.

I am at home. Fear is the stranger here.

Home is not a life in which nothing frightening happens. It is the truth of my place in God, which fear can visit but cannot own.

I forget this when anxiety has been present for a long time. Repetition begins to look like authority. Because fear has delivered the same warning every morning, I assume it must understand my life better than peace does.

I have felt this after waking with the same concern several mornings in a row. Before my feet reached the floor, my mind was already reviewing what might go wrong. The fear arrived so quickly that it seemed to be waiting inside me.

The practice was not to force it out. That only made fear seem powerful enough to require a struggle.

I could notice it and remember: this voice is present, but it was never placed in charge.

My home is the part of me that can observe fear without becoming identical to it. It is the quiet recognition that God has not left because my nervous system is activated or my thoughts are predicting loss.

Today I want to stop accepting every task fear assigns.

I may still feel its presence. I may need rest, support, information, or time.

But I do not have to hand it my schedule, my relationships, and every future decision.

I was at home in God before fear arrived.

I remain there while it passes through.
