185. I want the peace of God.

I am not a body. I am free. For I am still as God created me.

The body wants many reasonable forms of peace.

Enough sleep. Less pain. A settled nervous system. A room where no conflict is waiting.

I can support all of those conditions without confusing them with the peace of God.

I remember waking after a poor night of sleep and deciding, before the day had really begun, that peace would not be available until I felt better.

The body was tired. That fact deserved care.

The conclusion that the entire day must now be lived outside peace did not.

I canceled an errand that could wait, made a simple lunch instead of the one I had planned, and sat outside for ten quiet minutes before answering anything else.

None of those choices made me energetic. They allowed the tired day to stop being an argument with itself.

Peace appeared in the permission to move slowly without deciding that slowness had made the day spiritually lesser.

I am not a body. I am free. Freedom does not mean overriding the need for rest. It means peace can accompany me while I give the body what it needs.

Today I want to notice the bodily condition I have made a requirement for peace.

I may still seek relief and welcome it when it comes.

But I do not have to wait for the body to become comfortable before remembering where peace comes from.
