192. I have a function God would have me fill.
I am not a body. I am free. For I am still as God created me.
I sometimes confuse function with capacity.
If I cannot do as much as I once did, I assume I have less to offer. A tired body, a changed schedule, or a season of caregiving can make purpose seem postponed.
God’s function for me is not measured in output.
My function is forgiveness: allowing love to correct the fearful meaning I have given myself, another person, or the moment in front of me.
That function can be fulfilled while I am doing very little.
I remember canceling a commitment because I did not have the energy to keep it. The practical decision was simple; the shame afterward was not. I had turned one physical limit into evidence that I was unreliable and disappointing.
Forgiveness met me there. It did not produce more energy. It released the idea that love depended on pretending I had it.
Perhaps that was the function the day contained.
The body may determine which tasks are possible, but it does not decide whether my purpose is available. I can forgive while resting, receiving help, changing a plan, or admitting that today’s contribution will be smaller than yesterday’s.
Today I want to notice where I have attached purpose to performance.
I do not need a stronger body, a clearer calendar, or a more impressive role before God can use my willingness.
The form may change.
The function does not leave.
