I often imagine release as something that will happen after a long internal process.

I will understand the pattern, finish grieving, receive the right apology, and finally become ready to let go.

Meanwhile, I continue carrying the grievance as proof that the process is not complete.

This lesson brings release into the present tense.

I once noticed myself preparing to retell an old story to someone who had heard it before. I knew exactly where to pause, which details established the unfairness, and how the ending would confirm my conclusion.

Before I began, I felt how tired I was of the story.

The holy instant was not a dramatic forgiveness. I simply chose not to tell it again.

Nothing about the past changed. But for that moment, I stopped asking the past to explain who I was now.

Release may be this small. I can put down the mental argument, stop checking for evidence, or allow one unanswered question to remain unanswered for today.

I do not have to promise that the grievance will never return. I only need to recognize that I am not required to hold it in this instant.

Freedom becomes less intimidating when it does not demand a permanent emotional achievement.

This instant is enough.

God does not ask me to escape the entire prison at once. He shows me that the door is open now.
