Judgment often feels like an objective report.
I see what happened, assess the evidence, and reach the obvious conclusion.
What I rarely notice is how much the conclusion reflects what I already wanted to prove.
I remember someone leaving a gathering much earlier than I expected. They said goodbye politely, but I immediately decided they had been uncomfortable and wanted to escape.
Nothing they said established that. But I had worried beforehand that the gathering would feel awkward, so their departure became confirmation.
I judged it as I feared it would be.
Later, I learned they had been dealing with a headache and had stayed as long as they could.
My perception had not been random. It had faithfully projected the expectation I brought to it.
This lesson does not mean facts are irrelevant or every interpretation is equally accurate. It asks me to recognize that perception is not neutral while fear is choosing its purpose.
Today I want to notice one conclusion that feels completely self-evident.
The answer may not invalidate my concern. Sometimes the pattern I see is real and action is needed.
But awareness creates space between the facts and the story I built from them.
In that space, I can ask for another Teacher.
I do not need to become unable to judge through force.
I can become willing to see how judgment first arranged the world to match the wish beneath it.
