Fear tells me that every need must be met in the form I have imagined.

If I need reassurance, a particular person must provide it. If I need security, a certain outcome must remain unchanged. If I need help, it must arrive before I feel overwhelmed.

I once stood at a pharmacy counter learning that a prescription would not be ready when promised. I could feel my mind moving quickly from inconvenience to catastrophe. The delay became evidence that I was unsupported and that everything depended on me pushing hard enough.

The practical problem still needed attention. But fear had added a second problem: the belief that grace could reach me through only one door.

God’s grace may appear as a helpful pharmacist, a revised plan, the courage to ask another question, or the steadiness to wait without imagining the worst. It does not always remove the need immediately. Sometimes it meets me within it.

To say I have no cause for fear is not to say nothing difficult can happen. It is to remember that difficulty cannot place me outside God’s care.

I can take the next practical step without treating fear as my only protection.

Grace may already be present in a form I have not considered.
