Two versions of every person can seem to live in my mind.

One is the person as fear describes them: selfish, difficult, careless, permanently shaped by their worst choice. The other is the person love remembers: still responsible for their behavior, yet more than the behavior.

I noticed this while cooking with someone who kept changing the recipe. I could see the familiar case forming in my mind—proof that they never listen and that cooperation with them is impossible. Once I chose that version, every added ingredient supported it.

The food was not the source of my pain. The identity I had assigned them was.

Seeing someone as sinless does not mean pretending they are always easy or wise. It means refusing to believe that a mistake has replaced what God created.

That choice guides me toward peace because it leaves room for an honest response. I can ask them to stop, laugh at the difference, or decide we should not share a kitchen next time. None requires me to make them guilty in essence.

My perception will keep finding evidence for the identity I select.

Today I want to choose the one that leaves both of us capable of peace.
