The word *cure* carries enormous weight when the body has been seriously ill.
It can mean the treatment worked, the scan is clear, or the disease is not expected to return. Those outcomes matter deeply. Medical treatment saves lives, and spiritual ideas should never be used as substitutes for appropriate care.
So what does this lesson mean when it says only salvation can cure?
Perhaps it distinguishes healing the body from correcting the fear that the body is the whole of what I am.
Medicine can remove disease, manage symptoms, and restore function. It cannot guarantee that I will never feel vulnerable again. A clear scan may bring tremendous relief while leaving the mind alert for the next appointment.
The body can be treated successfully while fear remains convinced that safety is always one test result away from disappearing.
Salvation addresses that fear.
It reminds me that no diagnosis can separate me from God, no bodily change can reduce my worth, and no medical outcome has authority over the truth of what I am.
This is not a formula for producing physical recovery. People can be deeply connected to God and remain ill. They can receive excellent treatment and still face outcomes no one would choose.
The cure salvation offers is freedom from making the body’s condition the measure of God’s presence.
I can pursue treatment wholeheartedly without asking medicine to provide spiritual certainty. I can celebrate good news without pretending it makes the body permanently invulnerable. I can feel frightened without concluding that fear has undone my healing.
Today I want to recognize what I am asking the body to prove.
The body deserves every form of wise and compassionate care available.
And beneath its changing condition, salvation offers a cure the world cannot give or take away: the remembrance that I remain whole in God.
