Now are we one with Him Who is our Source

I often imagine union with God as a state I might reach after becoming quiet enough, faithful enough, or free from distraction.

Until then, I assume I am somewhere outside it, trying to find my way back.

This lesson says *now*.

Not after the mind settles. Not after I understand the situation. Now are we one with Him Who is our Source.

The word *Source* helps me because it points beneath personality and circumstance. I can feel separate without having accomplished separation.

There are moments when connection feels easy—a quiet morning, music that opens something in me, a conversation where neither person is defending. But if God is my Source, those moments do not create union. They make it easier to notice what was already true.

The same union remains during the distracted morning, the tense conversation, and the hour when prayer feels like speaking into silence.

I remember driving home after an appointment that had left me unsettled. I turned off the radio because I thought silence might help, but the quiet only made my thoughts louder.

At a stoplight, I noticed my hand gripping the steering wheel and the evening light falling across the dashboard. Nothing dramatic happened. I simply recognized that God was present in the car before I became calm enough to feel Him.

Then I saw the strange assumption beneath my struggle: that my thoughts had carried me somewhere God could not reach.

They had not.

Returning did not require a more impressive spiritual experience. It required one honest moment of remembering that I had never left.

Today I want to stop measuring connection by how connected I feel.

I may still choose silence, prayer, or practices that help me listen. They are valuable because they clear my awareness, not because they repair a union I managed to break.

God is not waiting at the end of my effort.

The Source of what I am is present now, including me before I become better at noticing.
