183. I call upon God’s Name and on my own.
I am not a body. I am free. For I am still as God created me.
The body comes with identifiers.
Age, appearance, diagnosis, ability, ancestry, occupation. They describe important parts of human experience and help the world recognize us.
They cannot name the Self God created.
I once sat in an oncology waiting room wearing a bracelet printed with my name and date of birth. The chart held the diagnosis, procedures, medications, and every result that mattered to the people caring for my body.
The information was necessary. It was also painfully incomplete.
Nothing in the chart could record the love that had carried me there, the courage required on ordinary days, or the awareness listening when my name was called.
Calling upon God’s Name restores what no form can capture.
I am not denying the facts. I am remembering they describe the body and its story, not the limit of what I am.
Today I want to notice which human identifier has begun speaking as though it contains my entire identity.
I can care for the history, condition, and treatment recorded beside my name.
Freedom means none of them is qualified to replace the Name I share with God.
