190. I choose the joy of God instead of pain.

I am not a body. I am free. For I am still as God created me.

Pain can make choice sound insulting.

When the body hurts or grief has settled heavily into a day, I do not need a spiritual lesson implying that I selected the experience. Pain arrives through many doors I did not open.

What I can choose is whether pain will be permitted to tell me the whole truth about myself.

I once woke after a difficult night already negotiating with the day. Before my feet reached the floor, the body had supplied a list of limits. Fear turned those limits into a verdict: nothing useful, generous, or joyful could happen now.

The pain was real. The verdict was optional.

Choosing God’s joy did not mean becoming cheerful. It meant making breakfast slowly, answering one message with care, and noticing sunlight on the table without asking those moments to cure anything.

Joy was not the absence of discomfort. It was the quiet evidence that discomfort had not occupied all of me.

The body reports sensation, energy, and need. It deserves attention. But it cannot measure the freedom of the mind that decides what those conditions mean.

Today I want to separate what I feel from the identity fear builds around it.

I may need medicine, rest, help, or fewer expectations.

None of those choices makes me less free.

I am still as God created me, and His joy can reach me without first requiring pain to disappear.
