I often remember everything that shaped me after creation.
Family expectations, painful experiences, successes, failures, and the roles I learned to perform all help explain how I became the person I recognize.
This lesson asks me to remember what came first.
God created me.
I once found an old evaluation that described me during a difficult period. Some of it was fair. Some of it reflected a person who had seen only one part of the story.
Still, reading it years later, I felt the old description trying to become current again.
For a moment, I was not a person holding a piece of paper. I was the judgment written on it.
Remembering God created me returned the evaluation to its proper scale.
It could describe behavior, perception, or one season of my life. It could not describe my origin.
This does not mean history has no effect. Healing often requires understanding what happened and how it continues to influence the present.
But explanation is not creation.
Today I want to notice which old description I am using as a name.
I may still need to unlearn defenses and repair their consequences.
The work becomes less frightening when I remember that fear is modifying a story, not rebuilding God’s creation.
Before anyone evaluated me, God knew me.
His knowledge remains the first and final truth.
