I sometimes use too many words when I am afraid of being misunderstood.
I explain the context, predict objections, and add qualifications until the truth becomes difficult to locate.
The extra language feels protective.
I remember declining an invitation and drafting a message long enough to resemble a legal defense. Every sentence tried to prove that my reason was valid and that no reasonable person could be disappointed.
Underneath the explanation was a simple truth: I could not come.
The Word of God is not a particular spiritual phrase. It is communication that carries love’s purpose.
Sometimes it is brief: “I was wrong.” “I need help.” “That does not work for me.” “I care about you, and my answer is no.”
Speaking with love does not mean arranging the words so no one can react negatively. It means refusing to use language to manipulate, punish, or conceal.
Today I want to notice where fear has made my communication complicated.
I may still need context. Kindness sometimes requires explanation.
But explanation can serve truth instead of hiding it.
The Word of God leaves both people’s dignity intact. It does not need to win the conversation.
It needs only to make honesty available.
A PRIVATE REFLECTION
What is coming up for you?
Share what you are feeling, noticing, or struggling with. The companion will respond through the lens of this lesson—not as the final truth, but as another way of seeing.
Your words stay in this box until you choose “Reflect with me.” That sends them securely to OpenAI for this response. The Site does not save them. You can download the finished reflection if you want to keep it.
