Nature does not seem embarrassed by transition.
Trees release what has finished. Light moves across a room without apologizing for leaving one wall. A season changes without asking whether everyone is ready.
I am less graceful with endings.
I remember keeping supplies from a hobby I had not practiced in years. The objects were not especially valuable, but giving them away felt like admitting that a version of me had ended.
I had confused freedom with preserving every possibility.
When I finally passed the supplies to someone who would use them, the loss was smaller than expected. What remained was space—and gratitude for a season that did not need to continue in order to have mattered.
Creation’s freedom promises that change does not destroy what is real.
Forms move, roles end, bodies age, and interests change. Love is not imprisoned in the form through which I once recognized it.
Today I want to notice what I am keeping because release feels like erasure.
Freedom may involve keeping the object or continuing the role.
It may also involve blessing what has ended and allowing life to use the space differently.
Creation does not cling in order to remain whole.
Its freedom quietly promises that I do not have to either.
