The Holy Spirit looks through me today

I often look through a conclusion.

Before another person finishes speaking, I decide whether they are reasonable. Before a situation unfolds, I scan for proof that my concern was justified.

Perception becomes a search for confirmation.

I remember sitting in a community meeting while someone asked several questions I thought had already been answered. I quickly decided they were being difficult and began listening for evidence that they wanted to derail the discussion.

Then I realized they were trying to make the process clear enough to explain it later to an older neighbor who could not attend.

The meeting still ran longer than I wanted. But the new information changed the meaning I had assigned to their persistence.

To let the Holy Spirit look through me is to become willing for perception to serve understanding instead of prosecution.

It does not require me to approve of everything I see. It asks me to leave enough room for truth to be larger than my first interpretation.

Today I want to notice what I am trying to prove through the way I look.

Holy sight can reveal a needed boundary, an honest mistake, or pain I had overlooked.

Its purpose is not to make every situation pleasant.

It is to make love possible within what is true.
