Review of Lessons 161–162

161. Give me your blessing, holy Son of God. 162. I am as God created me.

God is but Love, and therefore so am I.

Another person’s disapproval can make me feel as though my identity has become a matter for debate.

I want to correct their interpretation, explain my motives, or earn back the version of me I hoped they would see.

These review ideas release both of us from that job.

I ask for their blessing by allowing the encounter to show me that my worth was never theirs to confirm. I remember that I remain as God created me, regardless of the role I temporarily occupy in someone else’s story.

I have experienced this after sharing work that mattered to me and receiving a criticism that reduced the whole effort to one perceived flaw.

I reread the comment several times. Soon I was no longer evaluating whether it contained anything useful. I was trying to recover the version of myself that had felt competent before I saw it.

Their blessing came through the recognition that one person’s reading could neither certify nor erase what I had made. I could consider the criticism, improve what needed improving, and leave the rest without turning their judgment into my identity.

God is but Love, and therefore so am I.

That identity does not guarantee that everything I create or decide is wise. It gives me enough safety to examine my choices without making another person’s reaction the final verdict.

Today I want to notice whose opinion I have placed between myself and what God created.

I can listen, revise, clarify, or let the judgment remain unresolved.

None of those choices creates my worth.

They become clearer when I stop asking the relationship to tell me what I am.
