I use the word *life* to describe the collection of forms around me.

My work, relationships, home, health, habits, and plans become “my life.” When one of them changes, I can feel as though life itself has been reduced.

This lesson points beneath the collection.

God is my life. The forms express life, but they do not create it.

That matters when a role ends. I once watched someone pack the objects from a desk after many years in the same job. The box held photographs, a mug, and the small evidence of a daily identity.

Leaving felt like losing a life.

Something real was ending, and grief belonged there. But the source of meaning, love, and aliveness was not sealed inside that office.

No role can contain what God gives.

I forget this when I say, “Without this person, this ability, or this future, I will have no life.” Fear takes a beloved form and makes it the only doorway through which Life can reach me.

Today I want to notice which form I have confused with the source.

I do not need to become indifferent. Love can cherish forms without asking them to be eternal.

God’s Life remains while circumstances reorganize around it.

I may not yet recognize what living will look like next.

Still, I cannot be separated from the Life in which every true beginning is held.
