My mind contains voices I did not consciously invite.

Old criticism, cultural rules, imagined reactions, and the standards of people I have not seen in years can all participate in one simple decision.

Their familiarity makes them sound like my own wisdom.

I once considered wearing something I liked and heard an immediate internal objection about whether it was appropriate “at my age.” No one was in the room. The voice had been absorbed so completely that it no longer needed a speaker.

I changed clothes before realizing I had obeyed it.

God’s Voice does not humiliate me into correctness. It may guide me away from a choice, but the guidance leaves dignity intact.

That distinction helps me recognize which voice I am hearing.

Fear says I must avoid embarrassment, rejection, or proof that I do not belong. God’s Voice returns me to honesty, kindness, and freedom without making my worth the issue.

Today I want to notice who is speaking inside one decision.

Stillness does not require arguing every old voice into silence.

I can stop answering it.

As attention withdraws, the quieter guidance beneath the noise becomes easier to recognize.

God’s Voice does not need to compete. It waits for my willingness to listen without fear interpreting first.
