The body does not always feel peaceful when peace is present.

My heart may race before a difficult conversation, during a medical appointment, or after waking from a dream I cannot quite remember.

I tend to use the body’s activation as evidence that peace has left.

I remember sitting before an appointment and feeling each heartbeat more distinctly because I was monitoring it. The more I checked whether I had calmed down, the less calm seemed possible.

Then I stopped asking the heart to prove anything.

It was doing what hearts do—responding, sustaining, carrying the body through uncertainty.

Peace did not require a slower rhythm. It appeared in the willingness to let the rhythm exist without turning it into a prophecy.

The heart beats within God’s peace because the body’s sensations cannot move outside His Presence.

Today I want to notice the physical response I am treating as a spiritual verdict.

I may breathe slowly, seek medical care when appropriate, or give the nervous system time to settle.

Those actions can be kind without becoming conditions for God’s nearness.

My heart does not have to perform peace.

It is already beating inside it.
