I often separate the way I reach a goal from the goal itself.
I tell myself that once the problem is solved, I will be peaceful. Until then, pressure, resentment, and control seem justified because they are helping me get somewhere better.
But a peaceful outcome cannot be built entirely from conflict.
I remember calling about a billing error after having already spent too much time trying to correct it. By the time someone answered, I had prepared a case against the entire company.
I wanted a fair resolution, yet every question from the representative sounded like another attempt to avoid responsibility.
I was seeking help through a mind committed to opposition.
When I paused, the incorrect charge remained. What changed was the purpose I brought to the call. I explained the facts without turning the person answering the phone into the author of everything that had frustrated me.
The representative found the error and corrected it. Even if they had not, I could have continued advocating without using attack as proof that the problem mattered.
The means became part of the end.
Salvation is not peace waiting at the conclusion of a perfectly managed situation. It is the choice for peace within the mind meeting the situation now.
Today I want to notice where I am using conflict as the road to a peaceful destination.
I may still negotiate, disagree, or choose a boundary.
Love is not measured by avoiding difficult action.
It is revealed when the means no longer contradict the end.
The peace I seek is practiced through the way I seek it.
