Power is easy to confuse with control.
If I were powerful, I imagine I could make the plan work, change another person’s mind, or prevent the news I fear.
When I cannot, I feel powerless.
I remember preparing a meal for people I wanted to impress when one dish began going wrong. I adjusted the temperature, searched for solutions, and kept opening the oven as though urgency could force the food to cooperate.
The activity looked like problem-solving, but much of it was an attempt to control how the evening would be perceived.
My actual power was quieter.
I could stop making the meal responsible for proving I was a capable host. I simplified what could be saved, put something else on the table, and chose to meet the people arriving rather than the performance I had planned.
God’s power in me is not authority over weather, bodies, or other minds. It is the power to choose the purpose I give what happens.
Fear can interpret a change as loss, punishment, or proof that I am unsafe. Love can respond to the same facts with flexibility, honesty, and trust.
Today I want to notice where I have defined power as getting my preferred outcome.
The answer may include action. I can advocate, prepare, seek treatment, change course, or ask for help.
But the deepest power does not depend on controlling form.
My Father gives me the ability to remember that no circumstance can decide what I am or separate me from Love.
That power is available before the forecast changes.
