This lesson can sound harsh if I hear it as saying physical illness is a moral failure. I do not believe that is its invitation.

The Course uses sickness more broadly for the mind’s belief in separation—the feeling that I am cut off from God, from others, or from my own wholeness. Bodies require care, and seeking treatment is not a failure of faith.

I have sat in a doctor’s waiting room and felt my identity narrow around a symptom. Every sound and delay seemed to confirm that I was alone with something frightening.

The miracle was not pretending the body needed nothing. It was the quiet call for help: God, be with me in how I see this.

Healing can arrive through medicine, skilled care, rest, honest grief, or a change of mind. Its deepest form is the remembrance that no diagnosis can separate me from Love.

Calling to God does not control the physical outcome. It allows me to meet the outcome without adding spiritual abandonment to bodily pain.

I can seek every appropriate form of help.

And beneath each form, I can let the miracle answer the belief that I face any need alone.
